Hotel Royal Macau

Macau is always an impression of luxury, the skies lit by bright beam lights, the roads built next to grand architectures both old and new, and every corner, there stand countless fancy hotels and casinos.

In a city that doesn’t seem to sleep, it could be a little intimidating, let alone having to spend a night surrounded by poker chips and playing cards. Just by looking at the map, it’s obvious that there are only a handful of spots where it is more relaxed and less busy without having to completely isolate from the very essence of this oriental Vegas.

Hotel Royal Macau stands perfectly between the candid life of Macau and where all the fun happens, that for me is a perfect way to spend a night in such a lively city.

The first task we’re always confronted with arriving in a foreign land is getting to the hotel. But this worry is easily delisted as hotels in Macau, Hotel Royal included, offers free shuttle ride from the Ferry Terminal to chauffer you to the hotel, or any hotel and casino you wish to visit.

For a quick afternoon delight, the hotel's cafe at the corner of the lobby serves delightful treats to anyone who wants to enjoy a sweet pastry over coffee. But I went straight ahead to check in while the melodies from the live pianist filled the opulent lobby with an inviting ambiance.

I had the chance to get a short tour of the whole property. There were a variety of rooms to choose from be it for a solo indulgence to romantic nights to family escapades.

With a king sized bed and a separate nook for the little ones, the 44 sqm. Family Suite makes the convenience worth it for a family to stay in one room, different the usual connecting room. This allows the family to bond within a shared space, eliminating the feeling of division.

The Premier Rooms also offer such a cozy ambiance. Boasting a 27 sqm. floor area, the room provides a good amount of space, well illuminated by the generous rays of sunshine courtesy of the large bay windows.

Each room has a peculiar view of Macau right outside the window, a well supply of drinks inside the mini bar, a marbled toilet furnished with toiletries by Aigner, a spacious work desk, a flat screen television, a pair of bath robes and slippers, an in room safe, a complimentary coffee and tea, a high speed wireless internet connection and the sumptuous selection for in room dining.

There are two restaurants in the hotel, both famous and loved by locals and foreign guests alike. Catalpa Garden Restaurant is well known for its Shanghainese delicacies. Its prominent Shanghainese chef creates 120 distinctive dishes to choose from. It is a multi awarded restaurant that is also a favorite venue for various events such as conferences, meetings, birthdays and weddings. It has an exquisite look and feel that is perfect for a modern and fine Chinese dining experience.

As a former Portuguese colony, much of Macau's identity is rooted from the Portuguese influence evidently seen in its architecture and language. However, Portuguese cuisine is not as commonly found as I would have wished for. To rise to this expectation, Hotel Royal has invited the well-known Chef Luis Americo to head the hotel's Portuguese restaurant, Fado, bringing to life the idea of embracing this unique heritage.

Hotel Royal Macau is perfectly situated at the foothills of Estrada da Vitoria, near the historical Guia Fort and Lighthouse. It is also just a fifteen minute walk to the Ruins of St. Paul and a ten minute walk to giant casinos such as Grand Lisboa and Wynn.

Just around the hotel is a pleasant neighborhood, shops and quaint cafes. A very unique way to explore Macau upclose and personal. If not, the fitness center, sauna and indoor pool are always a good alternative.

As an added service, the hotel offers free shuttle services not only to and from the hotel and Macau Ferry Terminal, but to Grand Lisboa, Lotus Square, Main Entrance of Cultural Center, New Yaohan, Macau Tower, Galaxy, City of Dreams and Venetian.

The location of Hotel Royal, together with its amenities and facilities are perfect to anyone who wants to spend a celebration or visit Macau without having to be bothered with the noise, the frantic pace from everyone wanting to instantaneously make a fortune and the rest of the busy Macau scene without having to be casted too far away from the very essence of this metropolitan.
